About the Music City (TN) Chapter
As The Circle of Friends performed deeds of friendship and service within the Nashville community, they envisioned and worked towards expanding the scope and impact of their efforts. The Links, Incorporated agreed to establish The Circle of Friends as the third chapter in Nashville. The group selected the name Music City Chapter, The Links, Incorporated. On June 27, 1981, under the leadership of The Links National President, Julia Purnell and National Vice President, Thelma A. Hardiman, Music City Chapter, The Links, Incorporated was chartered and twenty-one members were inducted.
In the fall of 1979, twenty-one women organized a club known as The Circle of Friends. The group met monthly at the home of the late Clementine L. Hamilton, with the late Cecille E. Crump as the initiating spirit behind the endeavor. As the group performed deeds of friendship and service within the community, they collectively envisioned, and worked towards expanding the scope and impact of their efforts. The seventh National President of the Links, Incorporated, Link Julia Brogden Purnell, along with Vice President and Chapter Establishment Officer, Link Thelma Ayers Hardiman, provided leadership for this endeavor. On June 27, 1981, the Music City (TN) Chapter of the Links, Incorporated was chartered. It became the 178th chapter within the organization and the 49th chapter within the Central Area.
